2019.. The Year of The Underdog πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

How many New Year Resolutions are deemed appropriate and sustainable to commit to over the period of time? How many do keep up the required discipline for such commitments? Well to answer these conundrums one has to do a stock take of resolutions declared over the past 10 years and evaluate how much progression has been made, as we very well are aware that nothing is permanent except change. This is my story in accordance with the general belief in this yearly ritual.

I’ve come a long way to being in the current position of the goalkeeping coach for Park View FC, which has been a very humbling experience baring in mind I was inexperienced on the semi-professional level. I made the decision to join the coaching staff as a new challenge of self growth and development. Also my goalkeeping experience and most importantly my competitiveness was the key factor in my decision making. One may ask what has this got to do with new year resolutions? .. and my response to that is creating my goalkeeping brand called Ultimate Keeper. In 2016, after going back to my native country Nigeria to visit my family I haven’t seen in 16 years (.. shocking isn’t it? That’s a whole tale behind that), I made the decision to create the brand name from the idea of my junior brothers exploits in a Nigerian TV show called Gulder Ultimate Search, in which he won the first series back in 2004. It must be noted that he (Ezugo Gerald Egwuagu) is also a goalkeeper and had a successful career spell in the now defunct Nigerian Football Pepsi Academy when he was younger. This was the birth of Ultimate Keeper as it stands today and it felt perfect because I was unfulfilled in terms of my goalkeeping achievements as so much was expected of me, including myself to become a top professional but that never came even close to past. After retiring actively from the game 10 years ago on an amature level out of frustration and resentment, my life took a deep nosedive to obscurity of destruction. I had no direction at all, I hated Football because I was under the impression at the time that it never served my desires (wrong thinking pattern). This was fuelled by my observation that the standard of professional goalkeeping was declining. I knew I still had something to give back to goalkeeping and that’s when I got the call (.. from God, who else?) to make my mark on the goalkeeping platform. The next thing to do was to create a plan for what this calling was, and it wasn’t long before I knew exactly what to do. Subsequently I obtained my goalkeeping coaching licence Level 1, which has got me to the position I’m in today, and that’s just the end of the first of six phases of successes on my plan. For the first time in my life, I would now deploy with sure certainty the theory of New Year Resolutions.

Once one has created a solid and practical desired plan then every other commitments made effortlessly fall into place. As I look forward to the second half of the season with Park View FC, I’m equally super pumped up about the events lined up for the year ahead. I will be organising goalkeeping coaching sessions for the next generation of aspiring goalkeepers and this has its own separate organised planning for the idea to manifest. The time limit is 3 months (Nora Szanto my mentor is holding me accountable..) and I’ll keep you posted. Also, within the first 3 months I’ll be creating some goalkeeping content videos for my YouTube channel but I cannot go into details about the actual content, for obvious reasons πŸ˜‰. On the 31st of May, the 2nd and the 3rd of June I will be attending the National Goalkeeper Conference 2019 at Reading, England which creates networking opportunities for my aspirations. Inbetween or later in the year my goalkeeping coaching licence Level 2 and possibly 3 will be achieved, giving me much leverage in delivering more value for practitioners in the art of Goalkeeping. This is a portion of a much bigger plan that demonstrates my ambitious endeavours but it all takes time, in fact this is a lifetime goal stretching it’s branches and touching and transforming the lives of many who seek to grow their game. This might sound overtly ambitious but in 10 years time it’s seeds will bear fruit, and this is why I mentioned in the beginning about taking stock.

All in all I’ve got a busy scheduled year ahead of me and these commitments must be met. As the great Napoleon Hill quotes self-control is the result of thought-control is evident to all success stories of everyone who advocates this mantra. Deploy this modus operandi to your new years resolution and you will surely reap the rewards.

Go Crush 2019 with success!!!
